Charities
We work with a number of local charities each year to raise money for worthy causes.
Our main elected charities for 2007 and 2008 is Hospice in the Weald – www.hospiceintheweald.org.uk and Demelza House - www.demelzahouse.org.
In December 2007 we made a substantial donation towards the much needed music therapy room that is being developed by the hospice. The Therapy Room will offer therapeutic activities for patients alongside medical, social, emotional and spiritual support. It is designed to complement the other creative therapies offered by the hospice and provides patients another way to express their creativity.
Last year instead of running a traditional office secret Santa, we decided to buy presents for a more worthy cause! So staff brought presents for the children and staff at Demelza House. In total over 40 presents were donated, and it is hoped that they will be a nice surprise for the children. Bottles of wine and chocolates were given to the staff.
Demelza House is an 8-bedded children's hospice offering terminally ill children (and their families) much needed care and support that they need. One of the charities aims is to add life to days, when days cannot be added to life. It’s hoped that by providing these gifts for the children, it will make their days much more enjoyable and create some happy memories for their families.
