CharitiesAt Mortgages for Business we have a charity committee which was formed in 2007, in order that we actually make a co-ordinated effort to support both local and national charities, and work together as a team to help others. On the committee are Donna Marshall, Steve Olejnik, Stuart Coffin, Samantha Dowling, and Jonathon Moore.
Elected main charity for 2008 Hospice in the Weald.http://www.hospiceintheweald.org.uk/ Christmas donation to Hospice in the Weald for the much needed Music Therapy Room - December 2007.In December 2007, Mortgages for Business made a substantial donation towards the much needed Music Therapy Room, which is going to be developed at the Hospice. The Therapy Room will offer therapeutic activities for patients alongside medical, social, emotional and spiritual support. It is designed to complement the other creative therapies offered by the Hospice, and provides patients another way to express their creativity. The idea of making this donation was the outcome of the first meeting of our newly formed charity committee at MFB. It was decided to make a donation to the Hospice this Christmas rather than spending money on Christmas cards. Instead we will be sending an e-card to all of our clients. That way we will be cutting down on wasted paper and card as well as helping raise awareness for the Hospice says David Whittaker, Managing Director. Teddy Bear naming competition raises £50 for the Lennox Childrens Cancer Fund - December 2007Staff each paid £1 to guess the name of a cuddly teddy bear, raising a total of £50. The winner was Lisa Gray who got to keep the bear (!), and the proceeds went to the well deserving Lennox Childrens Cancer Fund. The money will go towards a fund that financially supports families who have children suffering with cancer. MFB staff Xmas raffle raises £450 for the Hospice in the Weald - December 2007On 14th December MFB staff enjoyed their annual Christmas Party at the Horsted Place Hotel. As part of the continued effort to support the main designated charity (Hospice in the Weald), a raffle was held. The prize was a hamper which was kindly donated by Keystone Mortgages. The total amount raised by the raffle was £450. Hospice in the Weald Provides care support and advice to patients with life threatening illnesses and their families. Services provided include an In-Patient Unit, Day Therapy Centre, Community Nursing, Counselling, Bereavement Support, Spiritual Care, Family and Carer Support, and Education training for healthcare professionals. All services to patients and their families are provided free of charge, which is why there is such a need to raise funds for this worthy charity. Christmas presents for the children and staff of Demelza House, Childrens Hospice - December 2007This year instead of staff running a traditional office secret
Santa, it was decided to buy presents for a more worthy cause! So
staff brought presents for the children and staff at Demelza House.
In total over 40 presents were donated, and it is hoped that they
will be a nice surprise for the children. Bottles of wine and
chocolates were given to the staff. Sponsored 10k run in Knole Park - March 2008On Sunday 16th March Donna, Jon, George, and Maria took part in
a sponsored 10k run to raise money for Hospice in the Weald. The
run was cross country in Knole Park, Sevenoaks. It is hoped that
they raised £500 (they are still collecting sponsorship). The
weather on the day was poor, with continual rain, the ground was
really soft and very muddy! |
