Landlords given carbon monoxide warning buy to let mortgagesPublished: 4.7.2007Landlords have been warned that they should keep as close an eye on the state of their properties as they do on business matters or else risk counting the cost. The recommendation was made by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) after two landlords were prosecuted after their tenants suffered carbon monoxide poisoning. The landlords in question were fined £2,500 each and ordered to pay costs totalling £1,800. "We want to send a clear signal to private landlords to look after the health and interest of their tenants instead of their own financial interests," commented HSE inspector Andrew Withers. "Keeping gas appliances in a safe condition and having a competent person to maintain them is not hard to arrange," Mr Withers added. Last month the Residential Landlords Association revealed that it had launched a new section of its website designed to help landlords with Buy to Let Mortgages and others better understand the safety implications of the new Housing Act. ![]() Mortgages for Business - market leading Buy to Let mortgages and Commercial mortgages.
