NLA praises insulation scheme - buy to let mortgagesPublished: 7.5.2008The National Landlords'' Association has given its backing to a scheme which can help those with Buy to Let Mortgages and other landlords to improve the energy efficiency of their properties.Under the scheme, known as Lesa, landlords can claim grants of up to £1,500 to insulate their properties. This can be used for a variety of insulation types from cavity wall and loft insulation to draught-proofing and water heater insulation. NLA chairman David Salusbury stated that there were benefits to landlords other than improving their green credentials. He said: "As well as contributing to the overall efforts by society to combat climate change, landlords may see an increase in the value of their investment as a result of energy efficiency improvements." He suggested this would help landlords meet the requirements of energy performance certificates, which now form part of home information packs. Last week the Independent wrote that the addition of insulation was one of the best ways to improve a home''s energy efficiency. It quoted the figure given by the Energy Savings Trust which states that loft insulation can save £110 in fuel bills per year on average. ![]() Mortgages for Business - market leading Buy to Let mortgages and Commercial mortgages.
