Present time ''good for investment'' - buy to let mortgages

In news which may interest those thinking of taking out Buy to Let Mortgages, it has been suggested that the present time is a good one to invest for the long-term.

Simon Zutshi, founder of the property investors network, said that those buying now will be able to get a "fantastic price" due to the market downturn.

However, he added: "Property is a long-term investment; it''s not a get rich scheme. You need to buy now at a great price but be prepared to hold it for a while."

This would be because prices are unlikely to rise again soon, he stated, meaning that those who did buy would need to make sure their finances were sound enough in the meantime.

In the most recent survey of its membership by the Association of Residential Lettings Agents, published in late March, it was found that 46 per cent plan to increase their portfolios in the next 12 months.
