Scottish house prices rising again - buy to let mortgages

New research has shown that prices for Scottish property are on the up again, meaning that those talking out Buy to Let Mortgages may have more chance of cashing in on their assets at a good profit in the future.

Following the dip in prices recorded for the last quarter of 2007, the Lloyds TSB Scotland House Price Monitor has shown that the first quarter of 2008 witnessed an increase in Scottish prices of 2.3 per cent, taking the average price to £163,639.

Of the main Scottish cities, only Dundee suffered a fall, while the south-east of the country excluding Edinburgh saw the largest rise in the quarter at 9.4 per cent.

The annual house prices figures still show that the north of Scotland is enjoying the best house price increases, while the top-performing city is Aberdeen.

Recent research by HBOS using Registrars of Scotland data showed that Edinburgh was the leading location for sales of homes for over £1 million last year, accounting for 148 out of Scotland''s total of 343.
