Financial advice website Unbiased.co.uk has revealed that buy to let was the fourth most popular driver on its 'Find a mortgage adviser' function in June.
Some 12 per cent of people searching for information on the portal wanted guidance on this type of product.
Only first-time buyers, remortgagers and consumers with an interest in residential mortgages were ahead of buy to let mortgage seekers in the user list.
Landlords working out the options available to them and homeowners considering renting out their homes due to the current market conditions may have been among the people accessing the web portal.
David Elms, chief executive of Unbiased.co.uk, said: "With some mixed news on whether there are signs of recovery in the property market, as well as mortgage options and deals still changing at a fast pace, it is not surprising that [people] are seeking advice."
Gross mortgage lending in June increased 17 per cent month-on-month £12.3 billion, according to recent figures published by the Council of Mortgage Lenders.
