Birmingham claims top spot of hotspots - commercial mortgages
29 February 2008
In news which may be of interest to those seeking commercial mortgages, a survey has shown that the city of Birmingham has come out ahead of all other provincial cities as a serviced office hotspot in 2007.
Officebroker.com, which provides such services, announced that the midlands city was well ahead of its rivals, with managing director Jim Venables stating: "In 2007 we saw a 41 per cent increase in the number of enquiries for serviced office space in the city compared to the previous year".
He added that of other cities Liverpool had done particularly well and was expected to benefit from its European City of Culture status this year.
Warrington, Cardiff, Cambridge and Leeds were also named as locations doing well.
Earlier this week Birmingham City Council announced a plan to expand the city centre southwards, something which may lead to the creation of much more commercial property, Property Week reported.
