Body backs C-Charge - commercial mortgages
24 June 2008
In news which may interest those with commercial mortgages, a group of businesses including commercial property firms have spoken out in support of the Manchester congestion charge plan.
The group, called United City, has said huge benefits would be gained by the city region from the massive public transport investment that the government would guarantee in return for implementing the charge, reports the Leigh Journal.
Founder member of the group ken Knott, who is the chief executive of Ask Developments, said the prospect was: "A fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime offer that will benefit business immensely and this opportunity should not be missed."
One way in which businesses may benefit from an improvement in public transport facilities is that such developments will make their premises easier to reach due to changes such as the introduction of faster or more frequent train services.
Writing recently in the Birmingham post, Ed Jones and John Dillon of commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton said the area of the city centre near to New Street station will benefit in this way when the work to expand the station is complete.
