05 December 2006
Plans for the development of a new residential and commercial centre in Brighton have been revealed.
The Brighton Marina project, which may benefit investors with commercial mortgages, is expected to include the development of the commercial area in the western part of the area, to include new cafes, entertainment centres, leisure facilities and a casino, the Argus reports.
Part of the project being undertaken by Explore Living, a subsidiary of Laing O''Rourke, will be to improve transportation links to the shopping area of the Marina, including a new bus station and accessible routes.
Commenting on the development, project leader Jim Dennis said: "We have looked at the area as a whole and tried to make the whole space somewhere where people will want to come and spend time wandering around in."
Future plans for the Marina area also include the construction of a 40-storey tower by Brunswick Development, in addition to 853 new residential apartments.
According to the company, £21 million is to be invested in facilities to benefit the community.
