Brokers head for commercial sector - commercial mortgages
10 June 2008
An increasing number of mortgage brokers are moving into the commercial mortgages sector, it has been suggested.
The ifs School of Finance has said a record number of brokers have been taking the Certificate in Commercial Mortgages qualification.
Such a move suggests that there is confidence in the ability of the commercial property market to recover from its recent dip, meaning more demand for such mortgages.
The qualification means the brokers will have a better understanding of different products, their suitability and issues such as legal matters.
Recent evidence has suggested that commercial property is starting to regain lost ground after its recent dip.
Last Friday, the Birmingham Post revealed that the Investment Property Databank monthly index had shown that quarterly income returns in UK commercial property were up from 1.2 per cent in the last quarter of 2007 to 1.4 per cent in the first quarter of 2008.
