Business Moneyfacts awards unveiled - commercial mortgages

The winners of the 2009 Business Moneyfacts awards - in which Mortgages for Business was nominated - have been unveiled at a ceremony in London.

Alliance & Leicester was named as Business Bank of the Year at the event at the Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, with Abbey and The Co-operative Bank being highly commended.

Barclays Bank came out on top in the commercial mortgages provider category, followed by Lloyds TSB and Natwest, while The Mortgage Works was handed the buy to let accolade.

Editor of Business Moneyfacts Lee Tillcock said that the awards recognised "outstanding service levels and product quality".

"We have been greatly impressed with the level of commitment shown and upbeat comments given by service providers and brokers," he added.

Alliance & Leicester expressed its delight at being given the title of Business Bank of the Year, with spokesperson Steve Pateman describing the honour as a "real coup".
