Buy to let property 'could see more colourful interiors'

05 March 2010

Written by David Whittaker

Buy to let landlords looking to update their property may be interested in the latest trends in interior design.

According to Adrienne Chinn, member of the British Institute of Interior Design and director of Adrienne Chinn Design Company, bolder colours will be seen in many properties.

She explained that there will be more "courage" concerning interior design and a move away from beige and cream.

Landlords who prefer carpets to hard flooring may be pleased to see a return to "wall-to-wall carpets" that seem to be en vogue.

Choosing a style and pattern to suit individual taste is now possible when purchasing carpets, Ms Chinn added.

Buy to let landlords could also find a new iPhone application useful. Furnish Your Photo from mydeco.com allows users to choose interior designs and visualise what they may look like on a virtual version of the property.

Ms Chinn said: "I think there is a lot more in the way of personalising space if people explore online - that is where all these opportunities are."
