C-charge concession may boost business - commercial mortgages
23 June 2008
A concession may be made to those travelling in the Trafford Park industrial estate in Manchester to limit the amount they will have to pay under the scheme.
In news which may be of interest to those with commercial mortgages on property in the vicinity, cars will be granted a 50 per cent discount on charges for crossing the outer charging ring - based on the M60 motorway - until the public transport improvements for the district are in place, reports Crains Manchester Business.
This will involve the construction of an extension to the Metrolink Tram system through the park as far as the Trafford Centre Shopping complex.
Commercial vehicles may also be included in the discount.
Manchester''s congestion charge proposal can only go ahead if seven of the ten metropolitan boroughs in the city region support it.
Six have declared themselves in favour while three - including Trafford where the industrial estate lies - are against it, leaving the outcome in the hands of voters in Bolton who will give their verdict in a forthcoming referendum.
