Commercial mortgage holders to see waste fees?

04 May 2011

Written by Jenny Barrett

People with commercial mortgages on holiday accomodation in Gwyned may be charged fees for waste collection.

This is according a BBC report, which said the local authority is attempting to raise cash to close a £38 million funding gap.

A £225 yearly fee for waste collection could be levied against 455 holiday homes in the area, with the council hoping to make £102,000 out of the plans.

These properties "have been a prominent topic in the context of the way they are dealt with in connection with local taxation", the news provider quoted from a report that will be sent to councillors.

At the moment, holiday homes receive a similar service to other properties in the region.

General waste is collected from residences in the county every fortnight, while recyclable material is picked up each week in blue boxes.

These containers can be filled with plastic and cardboard but clothes should be disposed of in other ways, including through recycling centres and charity shops.
