Commercial mortgages back in vogue?

A number of high-profile investors are considering putting their money into commercial property again, which may convince others to take out business mortgages.
The Times reports that interest in the sector has picked up, with Dragons' Den judge James Caan one of the more prominent commercial property investors.
He apparently has plans to launch a commercial property fund with ING Direct in the coming weeks, according to the newspaper.
And those who are thinking about taking out commercial mortgages may be buoyed by the fact that Nick Leslau - from Channel 4's Secret Millionaire show - and online Dragons' Den celebrity businessman Shaf Rasul have both turned their attention to the sector recently.
Last month, the Investment Property Databank Index revealed that property capital growth increased for the first time in 26 months in August.
Having climbed 0.2 per cent during the month, the results were announced on the first anniversary of the collapse of the Lehman Brothers investment bank - the occurrence that proved to be the catalyst for recession in the UK.
