Commercial properties may consider eco changes

Business mortgage holders who have property that is not very energy efficient may consider making green improvements to the buildings.
This is according to director of the National Home Improvement Council Andrew Leech, who said that changes such as green roofs are common improvements to commercial and residential property.
"Cities are going to get hotter and hotter as climate change takes hold, so people should consider having green roofs to help compensate or soak up the heat," he advised.
The comments follow the government's announcement that London would be made a Low Carbon Economic Area, meaning that buildings must be energy efficient.
In the UK there are already six areas that have the same status and it is hoped this introduction will encourage more towns and cities to follow suit.
Commercial property owners in Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool may already be aware of green targets that aim to make buildings carbon neutral by 2050, which Mr Leech says these cities are already striving to become.
