Council invests in office space - commercial mortgages
17 March 2008
West Sussex county council is set to purchase a building to create new offices in Horsham town centre, it has emerged.
The office, which is currently being used by Royal & Sun Alliance, has around 100,000 sq ft of space, including meeting rooms and parking spaces, the Argus reports.
Those who are in the market for commercial mortgages may be interested to learn that although the total amount changing hands is unconfirmed, it could be a multimillion-pound deal.
Steve Waight, cabinet member for finance and resources in West Sussex, told the publication that the transaction was "exciting news", which made "sound economic and business sense".
He said that it would likely bring more people into the town centre and would be "excellent" for the local economy.
West Sussex council was recently named by the Audit Commission as one of the top five of all English county local authorities.
