Edinburgh office take up ''still rising'' - commercial mortgages
17 July 2008
In news that may encourage those with commercial mortgages in Scotland, the Edinburgh office market has shown an increase in rental lettings during the second quarter of 2008.
Figures from Jones Lang Lasalle revealed that the increase in the city during the quarter was "in line" with the rise in the same period of 2007, the Scotsman reports.
During the quarter the take-up of space increased to 200,000 sq ft from the first quarter figure of 184,000 sq ft, with the biggest deals including the pre-letting of 37,000 sq ft at Quartermile by Morton Fraser.
Jones Lang Lasalle director Cameron Stott told the paper: "The office market is continuing quite robustly even though the dark clouds of the economy are hanging over us."
Another location enoying commercial property lettings success is the Sinfin Central Business Park in Derby.
Park owner Innes England has announced two new five-year leases have been agreed on premises at the site, reports Property Executive.
The companies taking these up are local firm TAT Dairies and Amouage, a luxury perfume manufacturer whose products are sold in Harrods.
