Experts talk up Manchester commercial property prospects - commercial mortgages
31 January 2008
Experts on the property industry have said that there is no cause to fear for Manchester''s commercial property prospects in 2008, news which may interest those with commercial mortgages.
Several industry specialists told the Manchester Evening News that the future for property in the city is brighter than many think.
David McKee, managing partner at Stevens Scanlan, said the industry was a "port in a storm" for investors during difficult times, while Irene Thomas, operations manager for Auction Finance said the market in the north-west of England is "robust", with investors seeing their portfolios as "a long-term investment rather than a way of making a quick buck".
Adding to this, Mike Barker, commercial property partner at Cobbets, commented that the city had the advantage of being able to offer deals to suit various budgets and needs, "which a number of other regional cities in the UK fail to offer".
This week saw Liverpool property firm UK Land and Property enter the Manchester market when it bought a prime city centre office from Scottish Widows, the same paper reported.
Beetham and Ethel property group joined forces to buy another site in the city earlier this week, the Liverpool Daily Post reported.
