Finding good tenants "key" to success ? buy to let mortgages
04 December 2008
Finding the best tenants is of paramount importance to becoming a successful landlord, it has been claimed.
In advice aimed at those with buy to let mortgages, editor at online resource LandlordZONE Tom Entwistle said choosing the right tenants is "key" to doing well in the industry.
He remarked: "In my experience one in 20 is a bad tenant and the rest of them are pretty good to excellent."
Speaking at a seminar called Selecting and Managing Tenants at the Landlord and Buy to Let Show in Birmingham, he went on to say that the reassurance of selecting the best occupants allows investors to "get a good return on your money and, long-term, look for capital appreciation".
"They will give you no problems, pay the rent and look after your properties," he continued.
Mydeposit.co.uk has revealed that out of 200,000 individual deposit arrangements it oversaw between April 2007 and March 2008, there were 341 disputes.
