A Manchester-based fireplace design company has used a commercial mortgage to open a new store.
The Manchester Evening News reports that The Heat Depot secured the financing from Barclays Business, in order to buy a new property on Oldham Road, Middleton.
Prior to this development, the company, which is involved in the retail of electric and gas fireplaces, mainly sold its products online utilising its www.hotprice.co.uk website.
Managing director Justin Emsley has reportedly said that he hopes the new location will eventually account for 50 per cent of the firm's overall business.
The new store will cover two floors and have space for a 10,000 sq ft retail environment.
This follows a recent statement from officebroker.com research project manager Simon Jones, who said that there is an increasing demand for commercial properties in Manchester.
The city "is following in the wake of Central London", he declared, with the number of people committing to renting office spaces in the area rising 200 per cent in the first quarter of 2011.
