New government proposals that will see housebuilders construct homes for local communities could be an advantage for people looking for property development finance, it has been suggested.
Speaking to Building.co.uk, chief executive of Countryside Properties Graham Cherry said the plans to scrap the regional spatial strategies will make the industry more competitive.
He expects his firm to benefit from the change as it has a good reputation for quality with local authorities.
"We definitely see this as an advantage for us," he told the news provider. "Everyone's going to end up having to engage with councils. We're doing it now."
According to the information source, housing minister Grant Shapps has argued the previous government's system was not working, with only 93,000 out of a target of 240,000 properties started in 2009.
This comes after head of communications at the House Building Federation Steve Turner said it was a "matter of urgency" that the supply of abodes is increased.
