Green proposals a "huge task" ? property development finance
24 February 2009
Proposals by the government to supply people with property development finance to make green upgrades to their homes are a "huge task", it has been claimed.
Andrew Moore, the managing director of BritishEco.com, said that he is unsure whether the public will be willing to participate in the scheme, which would see them taking out loans to make environmentally-friendly improvements to their properties.
Commenting on the plans, he stated: "It's a lot more complicated than just doing a loft insulation, which is very straightforward. There is a lot of practical detail to be worked through."
He noted that many houses already have insulation, adding that the next step would be to install renewable energy applications such as solar panels into homes.
The proposals were unveiled recently by energy and climate change secretary Ed Milliband, who revealed that they form part of the government's pledge to make all homes zero carbon by 2050.
