Landlords told to do their research - buy to let mortgages
12 June 2009
As well as securing buy to let mortgages, it would seem that there are a number of considerations landlords need to make before buying investment property.
Chris Horne, editor of Property Hawk website, has suggested that purchasing a buy to let property is "all about research".
It is essential for "any new landlord" contemplating making a move in the housing market to study the industry prior to investing in bricks and mortar, he explained.
"[Landlords need] to do their research about what type of property they are buying, where they are buying, [as well as] making sure that there is enough rental demand," said Mr Horne.
He also warned that competition from more experienced landlords can have an effect on the success of any property market venture.
A report from Citizens Advice recently indicated that there are around three million households in the UK that make up the private rented sector - highlighting the competitive nature of the sector.
