Leeds office space booming, says consultancy - commercial mortgages
30 January 2008
In news which may be of interest to those with commercial mortgages, research by a property consultancy has shown that the take-up of available office space in Leeds soared in the final quarter of 2007.
A study by Sanderson Weatherall found that despite the credit crunch this period saw the demand for space in Leeds rise top 590,000 sq ft between October and December, compared with 507,000 sq ft in the same period in 2006, the Business Desk reports.
The consultancy''s director of office agency, Glenn Levison, said the biggest threat to the continued expansion of this sector in 2008 was a lack of grade A office accommodation in the traditional heart of the city.
He commented: "I certainly believe that if anything it will be this, rather than the general global economic uncertainties, that will impact most upon the 2008 figures."
The latest company to announce it is moving into new office accommodation in Leeds is recruitment firm Qualitas People Solutions.
It will be concentrating on serving the city''s strong finance sector, onrec.com reports.
