Manchester wins super casino - commercial mortgages
30 January 2007
Manchester has emerged as the site for the UK''s first super casino, following a selection process involving bids from Blackpool, Greenwich and Newcastle.
With its potential for regeneration, which may benefit investors considering commercial mortgages, Manchester was chosen by the Casino Advisory Panel for its offer of "great promise".
Stephen Crow, chairman of the panel, said that the catchment area for such a casino was "second only to London", while the city has the "greatest need" for the investment it is expected to bring.
"We found that the proposal had a unique formula to offer which served to set it apart from the others presented to us in terms of the full range of our specific remitted criteria of best test of social impact, regeneration need and benefits and willingness to license," he remarked.
The Casino, which is expected to be 5,000 sq m in size and located in Beswick area of the city, is predicted to see £265 million of investment brought into the local area, the Telegraph reports.
