Mayor pledges new opportunities for business - commercial mortgages

09 January 2008

There will be new opportunities for the development of the commercial sector in the East End of London as a result of the London Olympics, mayor Ken Livingstone has pledged.

Mr Livingstone has said commercial opportunities would arise from the redevelopment of Stratford town centre, along with improved transport links, Property Week reports.

Setting out a series of five commitments to create a lasting legacy from the 2012 games, Mr Livingstone said: "The success of London 2012 will be judged not just by how many medals we win, but also by the legacy and the benefits we deliver for the whole of London."

The development of east London may prompt those involved in the property industry to take out commercial mortgages in the area.

London''s games will take place from July 27th to August 12th 2007, with most of the events held in venues at the Olympic Park in Stratford.
