22 November 2006
A number of commercial property firms attended a meeting held by CB Richard Ellis in Liverpool to discuss the need for greater investment in commercial property in the city before it becomes the Capital of Culture in 2008.
Representatives from a number of development companies and the Northwest Development Agency met to highlight the potential for investors, including those with commercial mortgages and the need for regeneration in a number of areas, reports the Daily Post.
Martin Wright of Liverpool Vision told the newspaper that that the Capital of Culture status has given "momentum" to building projects within the city.
"It has given us a platform and we have made great strides but we must work harder to bring more investment into the city," he remarked.
According to Liverpool Culture, established by the Liverpool City Council to oversee the culture project, an estimated two million tourists will visit the events and festivals being held over the next two years.
