Modern offices easier to rent for commercial mortgage holders?

Commercial mortgages taken out to purchase offices may be well spent on modern spaces, as one expert has said businesses need to tailor their workplaces to suit the way firms have changed.

Gary Wingrove, head of construction programme management at BT Group Property and president of the British Council for Offices, explained that employers need to consider how companies now function.

"We forget that the way we operate when it comes to work is vastly different to the way it was ten, 15 or 20 years ago," he stated, adding that it is now common to see "a much more informal office environment".

Commercial mortgage holders may need to take his advice into account if they are keen to follow the trends that may make their properties more attractive to potential tenants.

When choosing suitable real estate, Mr Wingrove suggested considering what employees will actually be doing when they come into the workplace, rather than thinking about the processes that were traditionally conducted by personnel, as things may have changed.

One firm that may be looking for ways to attract occupants to its assets is Altrincham's Regional Property Solutions, which recently added an office building to its portfolio.
