Buy to let landlords who use tenancy deposit protection schemes may be reassured to know that they are said to be working.
Chairman of the National Landlords Association (NLA) David Salusbury said: "All-in-all, tenancy deposit protection legislation has proven to be a success and current issues must not alter this message."
He was responding to concerns over price increases of such schemes, but said that these worries should not be allowed to detract from their initial aims.
According to Mr Salusbury, the government has recently claimed to be happy with the performance of tenancy deposit schemes run by The Dispute Service (TDS), which was welcomed by the NLA.
He continued to explain that he has written to TDS and is waiting to hear how the price increases will affect landlords.
"It is quite clear that landlords should not be expected to foot the bill of these price increases and we will be monitoring the situation carefully," Mr Salusbury added.
TDS notes that tenancy deposit schemes were set up under the Housing Act 2004.
