Ms Chambers is due to start a new position at HomeXperts as managing director.
Chairman of the NLA David Salusbury said: "It is with regret that the NLA must begin 2010 with the departure of a board member."
He added that Ms Chambers' had contributed to the organisation's development and success since she became board director.
"Sussanne is now moving on to an exciting new business venture and all at the NLA wish her every success," Mr Salusbury added.
According to the association it has more than 18,000 members, which include full-time landlords.
The organisation aims to help tenants and their landlords by lobbying the government for fair laws and regulations in the sector.
