Brookfield Europe, Hammerson and Standard Life Investments may be seeking property development finance after proposals for a regeneration scheme at Brent Cross Cricklewood were approved yesterday (November 19th).
Through a joint venture, the three organisations will build a new town centre that will include schools, healthcare facilities, homes, parks and improved local transport services as part of a £4.5 billion initiative.
Barnet Council gave the proposals the green light at a meeting held last night.
"This is a once in a generation opportunity to secure significant investment in a part of our borough that needs a major boost," said councillor Mike Freer, leader of Barnet Council.
Meanwhile, those seeking property development finance for projects based in London may be interested in a recent announcement by mayor Boris Johnson regarding investment in the capital's green spaces.
He said that he plans to spend £220 million over the next three years on more 50 public space projects, including those involving redesigned streets, reclaimed green spaces and waterways.
