People seeking property development finance to construct or make major renovations on homes may be affected by new regulations coming into effect this year.
Writing for the Daily Telegraph, David Snell warned those planning building extensions, conservatories or building a new home that energy-efficiency requirements are to be revised in October.
The expert said from the first of the month, individuals adding conservatories to properties must ensure the heating system for the new room is separate to that of the main house.
Generally, doors and windows on outside walls must not make up more than 25 per cent of floor space, he went on.
Elemental U values, which indicate the flow of warmth through a square metre of any building element, must achieve new figures that are 25 per cent better than those required in 2006, the specialist explained.
Young homeowners may be looking for property development finance, as recent figures from Halifax Home Insurance showed many people under the age of 35 do not know how to perform simple DIY tasks and would pay for a professional instead.
