Plans for tenant body approved - buy to let mortgages
13 February 2009
Proposals for a new independent National Tenant Voice (NTV) body have been approved by ministers, something that could affect those with buy to let mortgages.
The organisation will enable tenants to express their views on housing issues, while plans have been announced for a tenant council to be created in order to advise the board of the NTV.
It is hoped that the scheme will allow people living in rented or social accommodation to influence national policies and the body intends to commission research to examine the experiences of those within the sector.
"The National Tenant Voice will give tenants a real opportunity to have their views heard
I would encourage tenants across the country to get involved in its work," commented communities minister Iain Wright.
Meanwhile, John Heron, the managing director of Paragon EPCs, noted that prospective tenants are more likely to opt for an energy-efficient property as it can help them obtain lower bills.
