Property may be developed for ageing population

Property development finance could be spent on making homes more suitable for elderly residents.
Doing so may mean that older people can stay in houses for longer, rather than moving to care homes.
This is the advice of a spokesperson for Foundations, the national home improvement agency body in England.
She explained that the ageing population would benefit from property developments such as grab rails, level-access showers and secure flooring.
The baby boomer generation in particular will expect more from their life quality when they get older.
"Many will not want to go into a care home, preferring instead to continue living independently in their own homes," the spokesperson added.
Public health minister Gillian Merron recently said that taxpayers can see savings if fewer elderly people enter residential care unnecessarily.
And a report by Foundations, published in January, said that there will be 56 per cent more people aged 65 or over by 2031 and homes must be more appropriate for their needs.
