Rochdale ''s £100m regeneration progresses - commercial mortgages
21 February 2007
The multi-million pound regeneration of Rochdale town centre is continuing apace, with developers having been invited to contribute to the extensive redevelopment scheme.
Overall the regeneration scheme will cost somewhere in the region of £100 million, involving the development of new shops, transport links, office sites and community public spaces - an initiative that may be of interest for those with commercial mortgages.
The winning developer will be selected after a three-stage process, following which the regeneration will begin next year. Officials at the Rochdale Development Agency (RDA) are anticipating significant interest from various developers.
"We are committed to working with the public and local businesses to ensure the plans meet their needs," RDA chief executive John Hudson told the Rochdale Observer.
"The borough has great potential and these plans are all about offering better choices and opportunities for local people and businesses."
Plans for the development of a £350 million business park in Rochdale were recently green-lighted, with approval for construction at a 12-acre site being granted.
