SMEs 'need more finance' - commercial mortgages
17 September 2008
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are vital to the UK economy yet are struggling to obtain sufficient funding, it has been claimed.
The matter was discussed in a meeting held by the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB) with members of the Conservative party in Southampton.
Adam Tyler, the chief executive of the NACFB, remarked: "The SME is the acknowledged powerhouse of the UK economy; it is a huge part of the driving force
some of these businesses are stagnating because of their lack of access to finance which would allow them to grow."
Without adequate support for these small businesses, improvement for the economy as a whole will be a long and painful process, he added.
Meanwhile, the ifs School of Finance recently reported a rise in the amount of people registering to study for the Certificate in Commercial Mortgages and other subjects related to the property industry.
