Scheme could save buy to let owners £200 per year

Buy to let property owners with inefficient boilers may be able to apply for help through the boiler scrappage scheme.
The scheme was revealed in last week's pre-Budget report to promote energy efficiency.
Up to 125,000 properties could see financial rewards if owners adopt the measures.
Alistair Darling said that every inefficient boiler will add more than £200 to household bills and emit one tonne of carbon per year to the atmosphere.
But Blane Judd, chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE), said the scheme is "not enough".
Unless it is accompanied by advice on the sizing of the boiler, regular maintenance and installation of proper controls "little will be achieved", he said.
CIPHE welcomes "any incentive that encourages members of the public to make their home safer and more energy efficient" but "a cashback allowance on its own is not enough", Mr Judd said.
Industry support is now being sought by the institute, who want to see registered heating or plumbing professionals installing the replacement boilers.
