Small businesses given final rates relief reminder - commercial mortgages
17 September 2007
Small businesses have been warned that they must complete their small business rate relief (SBRR) forms by the end of September if they wish to save money.
With the deadline of September 30th fast approaching, the Forum of Private Business (FPB) has reminded firms, many of whom will have commercial mortgages, that the traditional annual deadline no longer applies.
Instead, the FPB outlines, the next deadline for applying for SBRR will not occur until September 2010.
"Many business owners will be unaware of this deadline," said Philip Moody, senior member services representative at the FPB, according to startups.co.uk.
"It does not apply to everyone, but they need to check their rates to see if they are eligible, and get their applications in if they are," Mr Moody added.
Earlier this month it was revealed that almost all landlords were opposed to the government''s plans to change the law regarding relief from empty property rates.
