Spending commercial mortgages on green offices 'could save money'

Using commercial mortgages to buy environmentally-friendly property could be a good way for businesses to save money, it has been claimed.
A spokesperson for the Renewable Energy Centre.co.uk explained green measures can be cost-effective and decrease outlay significantly.
"Energy consumption is probably one of the biggest areas in which businesses can save money," the expert said.
Changing behaviours with regards to ventilation, heating and electricity are some of the measures companies could take.
The specialist argued it is "critical" for every firm, public sector office and home to reduce their carbon emissions.
In this respect, he believes the government should have retrofitted Whitehall a long time before it did in order to set a positive example.
Four major departments are to install green technology, including the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
However, the representative for the Renewable Energy Centre.co.uk said the Energy Efficient Whitehall programme - as it has been named - is only a pilot scheme.
