Standards enacted for Green Deal

Commercial mortgage holders might be interested to hear that the Green Deal will have an independent body and a code to ensure all improvements made to properties reach the required standards.
Members of the United Kingdom Accreditation Service have already been formally appointed and will have the task of making sure assessors and installers meet the required standards when doing work to improve energy efficiency.
Climate change minister Greg Barker explained there will be regulations governing the quality of work, a route for consumer complaints will be opened and information will be made available as soon as the legislation is enacted.
"I have heard too many cases of shoddy workmanship or dodgy technology from government schemes in the past," Mr Barker continued.
This legislation follows a statement from environmental advocate Sustain Worldwide, which said the "vast majority" of property owners in the UK will only change their behaviour after significant incentives from the government.
