Swindon regeneration partner chosen - commercial mortgages
18 January 2007
A development partner has been chosen for the Exchange redevelopment in Swindon, which is expected to see the construction of both commercial and residential properties.
The regeneration scheme, which may benefit investors intending to take out commercial mortgages, will be undertaken by AMEC Developments following a selection process conducted by the New Swindon Company, the Swindon Advertiser reports.
Including a public square, the project will see the development of 25,000 sq m of retail and leisure space, in addition to 55,000 sq m of office property, a hotel and a number of residential properties.
Commenting on the regeneration work, councillor Roderick Bluh said: "I am thrilled that the regeneration is now progressing with great momentum, with recent announcements we are moving into delivery mode which will start to see some physical changes in the town centre."
AMEC recently announced that it had been awarded a contract by Union Railways North, under which it will supply electrical and piped services for the Network Rail Thameslink Line.
