Town and city centres are 'a disaster'

Individuals searching for the best commercial property mortgage deal may wish to be careful as to where they set up their company, as some town and city centres in the UK are said to be in a particularly bad way.

Local Data Company business development director Matthew Hopkinson claimed it is "a disaster" in some areas when trying to find investment or interested retailers.

Supermarkets and the internet are "successful because we shop there", but this has damaged high street stores, he noted.

People and firms must recognise this change in consumer habits and discover how it can be beneficial to them, the expert continued.

Mr Hopkinson stated that there are currently "too many shops" and not enough of them are appropriate for "modern retailing".

His comments follow a statement made by Mary Portas, who has been commissioned by the state to review high streets and said on BBC's Newsnight that these are "dead" in certain places.
