Women and the rental market - buy to let mortgages

The Association of Residential Letting Agents (Arla) is sponsoring an award at this summer's National Landlords Association (NLA) Property Women Awards.

In a statement released this week, the group said it is pleased to be backing the Young Property Woman Award category at the show, which will involve females with buy to let mortgages going head-to-head for the honours.

"We are delighted to be associated with the NLA Property Women Awards 2009," explained Arla operations manager Ian Potter. "Arla members have many female landlords within their client base."

He added that women "represent the future of the UK rental market" and they make positive landlords.

This comment was a reflection on a recent NLA study that showed 62 per cent of lady landlords are planning to expand their property portfolios in the next year.

Earlier this month, Arla commended the government's proposals to launch a landlord register to crack down on rogue landlords in the UK.
