World's first Facebook property app launches

26 January 2012

Promoting property for sale or rent is getting a social makeover, with the launch of the first ever property app on the social networking site Facebook.

For property available to rent the app could prove useful to private landlords who wish to market their own properties rather than using the services of a letting agent. Facebook’s private messaging system could be used to communicate directly with potential tenants and arrange viewings.
According to the Property Place, students spend more time on Facebook than on most other websites. If that is true then landlords with student accommodation could potentially save money on reaching their target audience.
“We’re all feeling the pinch and looking at ways to save money – Property Place is the perfect tool for people looking to sell or rent their property without the hefty estate agent fees, saving the average user £4,150,” said Sohail Rashid, founder of Property Place.

“You can upload details of your property in minutes and manage the whole process in one place. With nearly 30 million of us using Facebook in the UK, it’s the future of buying and renting property.”
Previously rolled out as a test version, the app has now officially launched with more than 500,000 properties on its database, and more expected to be added all the time.
To make the app attractive to sellers and landlords, Property Place charges £75 to advertise a property for sale and £35 per property to let.
